About

The person asking why.

I’m Gayathri, Design Lead at Supertails, one of India’s fastest growing pet care startups. It’s where pet parents come for almost everything: food and supplies delivered fast, medicines, grooming, and vet care online or in our own clinics.

I joined in 2021, the year it was founded, as its first product designer, and I’ve been part of the platform’s evolution ever since. Working closely with our product, tech and business teams, I’ve designed many of our primary user flows, from how people shop to how they book a vet, and when we first stepped into pet healthcare, I got to design those very first flows.

Today I lead product design at Supertails. Along the way I’ve mentored interns, led a team of in house and outsourced designers, and worked hand in hand with our brand and marketing teams.

Five years of designing for pet parents has made me someone who works backwards from the user. It helps that I’m one of them. I’m a huge animal lover and the proud mom of a rescued English cream retriever, who you’ve already met in the photos.

Before all this, I spent twelve years in fashion. I designed collections, ran production, and finished first runner up on MTV’s Making the Cut. It taught me to read people before designing for them, and to see an idea through from the first sketch to the finished piece.

My stepping stone into product design was consulting. From 2020 I worked with RewardsPlus as a UX/UI designer, turning product requirements into flows, wireframes and prototypes.

Lately I love exploring what product design can become with AI, so I build things of my own to find out. A few of them are up in Explorations.
